Social Hackathon Wrap-Up
At the end of the third week of May, Vilnius University hosted an International Social Hackathon for Sustainability, bringing together students from Greece, Portugal, and Lithuania to address sustainability issues at the Faculty of Philosophy.
The week began with an exploration of the campus, followed by presentations, meetings, and consultations with various members of the University community. The goal was to identify the most pressing sustainability challenges and opportunities within the campus.
This exploration phase was followed by a structured idea generation phase, led by professionals from the research and design agency, The Critical. By working at The Critical's office and visiting the regenerated cultural space SODAS2123, the students had the chance to view the university's sustainability challenges within the broader context of the city and Vilnius.
The hackathon concluded with a public pitch session, during which participants presented their ideas to the wider university community and other guests. The event wrapped up with a shared sentiment that collaboration between local and international students offers valuable and unique perspectives on campus issues, fostering innovative ideas to make the campus more sustainable and responsive to users' needs.
